Exterminating Angel Mini Blog Tour

Last Monday, my paranormal m/m angel romance Exterminating Angel released from Kensington Publishing's Lyrical Press imprint. I'd done a post earlier outlining a Tarot reading I'd done for Zaphkiel and Sean, and that I ended up using in the story.

But no blog tour. It just didn't turn out. So, being the adaptable, resourceful person I am, I asked authors if I could guest blog on their sites. In return, I offered to open my blog to them as a way of paying it forward.

Here is the tentative schedule:

May 13: On the Dark Side of Love (Mimi Sebastian)

May 13: Unwritten (Mysti Parker)

Other bloggers who've been kind enough to offer to host me are Laken Cane, Juli D. Revezzo, and Jamieson Wolf. No dates have been established, but I appreciate their willingness to open their blogs to me. And a shout out to Daisy Banks, Mimi Sebastian, Mysti Parker, and Veronica Scott, who also were kind enough to let me share their space.

I've been given the Life is Good blog award!

The requirements for the Life is Good Award:
1. First, thank and link back to the person that gave the award. (Thank you, Marsha!)
2. Answer the 10 survey questions.
3. Pass the award along to other bloggers whom you think are fantastic.
4. Contact the bloggers you have chosen to let them know about the award.
1o Questions

1. If you blog anonymously, are you happy doing this? If you are not anonymous, do you wish that you had started out anonymously, so that you could be anonymous now?

I blog under my name. To be honest, I never considered posting anonymously.

2. Describe an incident that shows your inner stubborn side.

A couple of times I needed paperwork signed and the staff refused. I wouldn't leave until they gave in, albeit reluctantly. LOL

3. What do you see when you really look at yourself in the mirror?

Someone whose intense and driven, not afraid to look at the shadow aspect of life.

4. What is your favorite summer cold drink?

Does it have to be cold? Coffee. Yep. Okay, if it has to be cold, then iced coffee.

5. When you take time for yourself, what do you do?

You mean besides write? Read, play video games, walk around my neighborhood or the park,  hang out at the library or bookstore.

6. Is there something that you still want to accomplish in your life? What is it?

Publish a novel. At least I've completed the first step: I wrote one. :-)

7. When you attended school, were you the class clown, the class overachiever, the shy person, or always ditching?

Shy person, the one always teased and picked last in gym.

8. If you close your eyes and want to visualize a very poignant moment in your life, what would you see?

Following a hearse down a lonely country road to a rural cemetery to bury my mother who died in a car accident.

9. Is it easy for you to share your true self in your blog or are you more comfortable writing posts about other people or events?

I'll share information about myself but I also try to give other people a chance to talk about themselves as well. That's why I have Tuesdays set aside for guest bloggers. :-)

10. If you had the choice to sit down and read a book or talk on the phone, which would you do and why?

Read a book. I'm actually phone shy and would rather communicate via email.

I am passing this award on to:

Cassidy Hunter
Amy McCorkle
Sonya Clark
Nerine Dorman
Lindsay Below
Rosalie Stanton

New Year, (Almost) New Blog

I've made some significant changes to this blog, specifically the addition of pages. Much of this information is also cross-posted on my website, although I also include character sketches and free short reads on the latter. If you're interested in checking it out, please do. :-)

There will probably be more changes over the next few weeks or months. The focus will still be on dark genre fiction, particularly horror, paranormal (including paranormal romance), and urban fantasy. I'm interested in having an "Author Spotlight" where I profile an author for a month. And of course the guest blogger spot will still be open on Tuesdays. Basically, I want this blog to be interactive and a chance for authors and readers to interact.

That said, I hope you enjoy the new changes and I look forward to seeing you in 2011!

Happy New Year! (Guest Bloggers Wanted)

Wishing you all a wonderful, healthy, and prosperous 2011. Thank you for following me on my blogging journey. Starting January 4, 2011, I'll be part of a group blog called Write Club. Tuesdays are my day to post. Stop by and check us out. :-)

I need guest bloggers for 2011. I have a few slots taken but the year is pretty much open. If you write dark genre, speculative fiction, let me know. This includes paranormal romance, urban fantasy, horror, paranormal (mainstream), steampunk, cyberpunk, fantasy, science fiction, etc. Yes, even erotica, as long as it's part of one of the genres/subgenres listed above.

Feel free to let other writers know about these guest blogging opportunities. (They can contact me at pamturner97@gmail.com.) You can promote your book(s) and include a cover and excerpt. Also, if you have knowledge in an area such as writing POV, creating book trailers, establishing GMCs, you're more than welcome to post. I want this blog to be interactive. And this year proved to be successful in creating a community by and for writers. Let's keep the momentum going. :-)

I guess you're expecting me to talk about my writing goals for 2011. Don't worry. I've already touched upon them in another post. :-)

Moving Right Along

This past Friday, I received my notice from the RWA my PRO application was approved. Yes, folks, a writing goal to scratch off my 2010 list.

Not only that, but my short novel, the one I submitted with my application, was offered a contract. I wish I could give more details, but have to wait.

Has my life changed significantly since this news? Yes and no. I'm aware I need to work on promoting myself more, although I've already been working on it through blogs and Twitter. I also have accounts on MySpace and Facebook, but spend little time on them. My feelings are mixed regarding fan pages on FB.

There's still my website to design (both for myself and my books), a book trailer to create, and character journals to write. My business cards recently arrived, and I'm thinking of ordering bookmarks and postcards to advertise my online presence. Then there are contests, inviting other writers to blog at my site, cross-promotion ideas, etc.

And my book hasn't been published yet. So yes, this is all in the "pre-production" or "development" stage. Am I jumping ahead? I don't know. I hope I've helped establish my author brand, though. I'm not expecting to suddenly sprint ahead and break the tape at the finish line, but each step forward brings me closer to my goal.
