Last week I posted six truths and one lie or six lies and one truth as part of a condition for the "Creative Writer Blogger" award.
First, thanks for playing. Hope it was an amusing diversion. :-)
And now the six lies and one truth:
1. I grew up on a dairy farm.
Lie. While I did live on my grandmother's poultry farm for a short time, I spent most of my childhood growing up in small towns. Sorry, folks, I've no idea how to milk a cow, but I do know the difference between a Holstein and an Angus.
2. My parents met at the prom.
Lie. My parents met at a church young adults program.
3. My first pet was a cat.
Lie. My first pet was a dog, although I don't remember him. I think his name was "Skippy."
4. I had a solo part in Vivaldi's Gloria in college.
Truth. I sang the "Domine Deus, Agnus Dei" solo.
5. My first car was a Chevette.
Lie. It was an Olds Calais. I still believe it was cursed.
6. I once parachuted out of a plane.
Lie. I've taken flying lessons and attended ground school, but never jumped out of a plane, much to my flight instructor's relief. :-) No, I don't fly anymore. Bad depth perception.
7. A friend nicknamed me "Scorpion."
Lie. Oh, he has a nickname for me: "Viper."
Now back to your regularly scheduled mayhem.

And Now For Something Completely Different
My first award, thanks to Marsha A. Moore. However, I must also credit Cassidy Hunter, who nominated me a while back. Sorry, Cassidy! I'm such a dork! I seriously forgot all about it. I'll make it up. Promise!

Now to prove I'm truly "creative," I need to post six lies and one truth or six truths and one lie. The fun part for you? You get to figure out which one is which.

7. A friend nicknamed me "Scorpion."
Easy, right? No problem at all.
And now, to pass the love along (or at least this award), I've nominated the following people:
Pamela Sweet
Sonya Clark
Elise Van Cise
Amy Leigh
I know, I know, it's not seven people. But I just have to be a rebel don't I? (*Snort!*)
And now, back to your regularly scheduled mayhem.

Hypericon 6
This past Saturday, I drove down to Nashville for Hypericon, a speculative fiction convention. This comes on the heels of Coyote Con, the 31-day digital conference, also focusing on speculative fiction.
Attended panels, talked to authors, bought books, had said books signed, chatted with small press publishers, and generally had a great time. Everyone was personable and the con had a relaxed atmosphere, which is perfect for shy people like me. LOL
Highlight was meeting Ramsey Campbell, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Alethea Kontis. Ramsey Campbell read two of his soon-to-be published stories. Sherrilyn and Alethea were charming and personable. I never thought I'd have an opportunity to meet these authors. Then again, I never thought I'd meet Kenneth Anger.
Other authors I met were John Everson, Sara Harvey, Allan Gilbreath, and Elizabeth Donald. The great thing is I have new books to read and new authors to discover. That's always a plus.
Looking forward to Hypericon 7.
