I never wanted to write a vampire romance because it's been over-done. But when I hit a writing block with a novel, I had a dream where a man told me I was having trouble because I was giving my heroine the wrong hero...then he smiled and showed his vampire teeth. I told him I don't write vampires. He told me to research the Mayans and their rituals. Which I did, and found them saturated with blood sacrifice...which would make sense if their gods were vampires!

I pay attention to my dreams, because I often get plots from them! And FYI, I have my vampires discover what in their blood, makes them different, because my heroine is a neurobiologist, who is fascinated by the concept. And I had never read a book where the WHY and HOW of what a vampire is was explained...so I wrote one.
Fiona McGierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13495707848048468428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4944046112216378689.post-37906376703675519112012-09-14T17:23:40.404-04:002012-09-14T17:23:40.404-04:00I never read YA until recently --I started reading...I never read YA until recently --I started reading when authors in my group released their works. Yet...I wrote and published a horror novel, and have another one coming up, with a demonic vampire as the antagonist. They both spawned from two separate nightmares.

Unlike many, I fear the powerlessness one has against the forces of darkness, and how easily someone can succumb to those temptations. As stated above, the vampires in my books are demons--and the only power greater than them is the Divine.

Vampires are immortal--but not eternal. They just suck you dry.Hahaha. So no wonder they like to read about them.

And I've been reading vampire books long before they became cool. You publish yours and I'll be there to buy it.
Teresa R. Teresa Reasor https://www.blogger.com/profile/18204579039577235727noreply@blogger.com
